Fonts Manager and Online Fonts Creator

One of the advanced features of Flash CMS is the ability to upload and use the custom fonts on the Flash CMS website. You can use the “Fonts Manager” for that. In order to open the “Fonts Manager”, please go to the “Preferences” tab of your control panel or click on the button “Add font” while browsing the fonts in the text editor.
pic10.JPG

The “Fonts Manager” lists all of uploaded fonts. Besides the uploaded fonts, you can use the device fonts such as Tahoma, Arial and Times New Roman on your Flash website. These fonts are displayed on the “Text Editor” only. You can add new fonts, uploading them from your Local PC, as well as enable and disable fonts that have been uploaded. You can also select the group of glyphs, if one of the fonts was uploaded in several variants, or just delete the font you are not going to use. Clicking the “Create font“ button, you can go to the “Online Fonts Creator” to generate your custom fonts.

To make your font displayed on the website, you should make sure that the font has a correct format and structure. Flash can upload Fonts in .SWF file format only. Initially Fonts may be in various formats. One of the most popular formats of the fonts is Open Type with file extensions TTF and OTF. If you want to use such files on your Flash website, you should convert them into .SWF. Please use the “Create Font” button to switch to the “Online font creator”. Once the font is converted, please use the button “Add New Font” to upload it to your control panel.
greenshot_2011-09-29_16-33-51.png

Not all the fonts can be converted. Some of the fonts were created by the conversion from other formats and may not be converted by our program. Some of the fonts are different from the “Open Type” format. Usually you can convert these fonts into TTF or OTF with the help of a special program and then turn them into SWF format with the help of the “Online font creator”. While adding a new font, you will be prompted to select the glyphs. You may add as many symbols as you need by varying the size of the .SWF file. For example, if you generate the “Tahoma” font with all the symbols it supports (Latin, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, etc.), it will gain up to 10MB in size. The “Fonts Manager” allows to upload several variants of the same font, but with different glyphs. With the help of the control panel you can decide what font and its variant are going to be used on the website. After you have uploaded and activated a new font, you may check how it works within the “Fonts Manager”. The chosen font will be applied to the text that is placed in the special box below. This text is editable, so you can always check it to see if your current font supports all the necessary characters.

Creating New Page or Pop-up

Flash CMS allows you to add new pages and pop-ups to your Flash website. In order to add a new page or a pop-up, please use the top panel button, the special menu or the “Right Click” menu in WYSIWYG editor.

For adding a new page, you should take the following steps:

First of all, please choose what you would like to create –  page or a pop-up.
greenshot_2011-09-29_16-33-13.png

1. The Page is the main section of the website. Each of the pages has its own title and address that changes depending on the site navigation. You may open any page using its address.

2. A pop-up is a drop-down window. It is usually used for the additional information that is not displayed on the website pages due to its size or some other reasons. A pop-up, like any page, has its own address, title and other page properties, but it is used for SEO only and it does not change the title in the browser or the address field by opening the pop-up.

Page and Pop-up Templates

As soon as the type of the section is chosen, you need to select the template of the page or pop-up you would like to create. Depending on the website, the number of pages and template pop-ups may vary. You cannot create a new page or a pop-up without selecting a template. You can create an empty page or a page with sample content, selecting the “Create Blank” checkbox in the window, the same way you select the template.
Please choose the template from the list and click “Select” to continue.

greenshot_2011-09-29_16-38-34.png

The parent page is used for the internal group of the pages for their easy editing. The parent page is absent by default and the new one is added to the root.

Page Duplicate

A new page that you want to create is often based on the existing one; it has the same structure and elements. In this case, you can create a new page using the “Duplicate Page” function from the Main menu or Right Click menu. This function duplicates the current page and gives you an exact copy of it as a result.

Page and Pop-up Holders - Layers

Unlimited animation is one of the advantages of Flash CMS websites. It is achieved with the help of so-called “layers” that compose different objects – texts, images and animated elements. Each of the objects is placed on a certain level and may be moved by arrangement functions.

Generally each of the layers is animated transiting between the layouts and pages of the website. That’s why the animation depends on the placement of the object, it appears and disappears.

There are holders that appear and disappear while navigating through the pages and there are other holders that appear once and remain static afterwards. This function allows you to place an object and make it visible on the entire website, on a certain layout or on a certain page.

Animation and the placement of the holders are defined during the development of the Flash CMS theme and cannot be changed through your control panel afterwards.
